The gap between “gaming” and “workstation” is smaller than the pricing suggests for the vast majority of use cases. So What’s Actually Different?

ECC memory. Workstation builds often use RAM that can detect and correct memory errors on the fly. This genuinely matters for tasks like scientific computing, financial modelling, or rendering a single frame that takes 14 hours — where a single silent memory error could corrupt results without you noticing. Certified drivers. If your software vendor specifically recommends certified drivers for stability or support reasons, that’s a real, legitimate reason to go workstation.
